Harold Joe Sedman, 83, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024, at a local health care facility. He was surrounded by family at the time of his passing.

Harold was originally from Rhea County, and had been a resident of the Dallas Bay community since the 1970s.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Sedman and Audrey Ferguson Sedman, and brothers Marion Sedman and Allen Sedman. All were residents of Rhea County.

Harold graduated from Rhea County High School and married his high school sweetheart, Maida Craun, after graduation. He went to work for Chris-Craft industries and then was employed by Robinson Manufacturing Co. in Dayton where he retired after more than 30 years of service. He began his career there as a sewing machine mechanic and retired in management. He was instrumental in opening of their facility in Monterrey, Mexico prior to his retirement. Harold was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying gardening, fishing and hunting. His true passion was serving others, whether giving away his garden vegetables, volunteering to help those less fortunate or serving as a deacon in several area Baptist churches.

He is survived by his wife Maida and two daughters, Joy Brown (Hamp) of Chattanooga and Cindy Lindsay (Mark) of Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga. Grandchildren are Erica Davis (James) of Cleveland, TN, Melissa Sindler (Edgar) of Chattanooga, Zack Miller (Kelli) of Hendersonville, TN and Michele Brown of Columbia, SC. Also surviving are 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm on Wednesday , April 24, 2024 at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. The service will be in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, officiated by Rev. David Cunningham. Pallbearers are Wyatt Davis, Edgar Sindler, Zack Miller, James Davis, Mark Lindsay and Hamp Brown. A graveside service with white dove release will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
