Southeast Conservation Corps Selects New Leadership

Southeast Conservation Corps (SECC), a program of Conservation Legacy, announced the appointment of Darcy Welch to the helm as Corps Director.  Headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, SECC connects people to the natural environment through conservation-based service learning, personal development, and recreation.

Ms. Welch will be responsible for developing and maintaining local partnerships within Chattanooga and surrounding Southeast, operating a team of programmatic and administrative staff members, overseeing the strategies and success of fundraising efforts within SECC, and driving strategic initiatives to further strengthen Southeast Conservation Corp's position as a leader in the Conservation field.

Officials said Ms. Welch brings a wealth of experience to this position, with a proven track record of organizational leadership, fundraising success, and a great love for the outdoors. In addition to her many years of successfully driving the mission and vision of nonprofits, she has served on numerous committees and boards in the area and is a certified Tennessee naturalist.

Southeast Conservation Corps provides members with impactful opportunities through a unique set of programs that engage people in meaningful education and service to their communities and natural landscapes. Since each program is purposeful in design, positions may vary in length, location, focus, and populations served.

The office is in Chattanooga, Tn., nestled between the Cumberland Plateau and the Appalachian Mountains. This ideal location allows Southeast Conservation Corps to engage a diverse population of people in a broad range of conservation service projects and recreation opportunities within some of the oldest and most biologically diverse forests in the eastern United States.

SECC is a program of Conservation Legacy. Conservation Legacy also supports other regional offices that serve local communities including Southwest Conservation Corps, Arizona Conservation Corps, Appalachian Conservation Corps, Conservation Corps New Mexico, Conservation Corps North Carolina, Stewards Individual Placement Program, and Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps.
