Sherrie has worked in the school system for 35 years, the last eight as the School Board’s executive assistant. She has a diverse view of schools as she has been president of the county’s Parent Teacher Association, a substitute teacher and helped start the system’s Fund for Excellence and Kids First Coupon Book. Due to her experience with the School Board, Sherrie is well versed in policies, procedures and state law that deal with our schools.
Sherrie’s conservative views are aligned with the majority of voters in Hamilton County, but her opponent in the District 11 race, liberal incumbent Jill Black, is just the opposite.
In her first term on the Board, Ms. Black wanted all school policies to replace the pronouns used in the policies to be changed from “he or she” to “us or them.” She supports having transgender males play sports against female athletes. Ms. Black also supports students having gender altering surgery without parental consent.
Recently, another campaign printed yard signs with the identical color scheme as Ms. Ford’s signs. The sign said, “Wants Guns in Classrooms.” The yard signs were placed alongside Ms. Ford’s larger signs with an arrow pointing toward her signs. After the head of the GOP called out the negativity of the signs, they were all removed a day later. “Signs” point toward Jill Black’s campaign as being the source of the yard signs.
Our school system will be better off, and more reflective of the character of Hamilton County with Sherrie Ford winning the race against Jill Black.
