Habitat For Humanity Of Greater Chattanooga To Host Raise The Roof Luncheon Sept. 25

  • Thursday, September 5, 2024
Habitat for Humanity is hosting Raise the Roof Luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Marcus and Althea Jones will chair this year’s fundraiser and Donna Elle Harrison will serve as emcee.

Officials said, "Marcus and Althea Jones have an acute understanding of just what it takes to make a house into a home. Marcus leads Magnolia Developments, LLC, a commercial and residential construction company. He leads a team of skilled professionals, and brings more than 24 years of experience, including management of significant industrial projects and luxury residential sectors.
Marcus also previously served as board chair for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga.

"Althea serves as director of Public and Community Engagement at Tennessee Valley Authority. She is responsible for TVA initiatives and processes, including community contributions, volunteerism and external stakeholder engagement. Additionally, Althea serves on the City of Chattanooga's Industrial Development board, Leadership Chattanooga Alumni Association board, Hamilton County Schools Foundation board, and the River City Company board. They have two sons, McCorey and Myles, who keep them busy with their active basketball and track and field schedules; and two adult daughters, Kviauna and Jayla who reside in Mississippi."

“We are thrilled to have the input and guidance from this year’s co-chairs, Marcus and Althea,” said Habitat CEO Jens Christensen. “They know the ins and outs of the construction and development industries and the costs that come with building and maintaining a home. We know they will provide valuable insight for this year’s Luncheon.”

Officials said, "Raise the Roof emcee Donna Elle can say with conviction she has been called to help others realize their personal worth and invest in themselves. With more than 30 years of experience in the public eye as a radio host and television personality, and women’s advocate, Donna Elle has reached out to and helped people from all walks of life. She is from Chattanooga and a graduate of Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences.

"Over the past 38 years, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga has built over 300 homes and repaired over 150 existing homes, providing more than 1,000 women, men and children with stability and the joy and security of Habitat homeownership.

"Proceeds from Raise the Roof will go directly into funding Habitat for Humanity’s mission of building more decent and affordable homes for families in Hamilton County. Last year’s event raised over $200,000."
