Two days after defeating ABAC (Ga.) at home, the #11 Roadrunners took to the road for a rematch with the Stallions and once again dominated, setting three new program records in a 114-60 win at Gressette Gymn in Tifton on Thursday night.
Abraham Baldwin held tough keeping it within eight points at 28-20 with 6:59 remaining. Dalton State ended the period on a 23-4 run to take a 51-24 lead into the break. The rout continued into the second half and continued to grow as the lead reached 54 points with Tyshan Kelley's final bucket just before the buzzer sounded for a 114-60 win.
Matt Compas went 12-of-15 from the field for 25 points, five rebounds, and four assists to lead all scorers.
Seven total Roadrunners scored in double-figures altogether. Tyshan Kelley poured in 15 points, knocking down three triples, with Carterius Evans getting 14 points in 11 minutes of court time.
Marc Pilcher was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field for 13 points, while Qualen Pettus had a 12-6-4 stat line. Omarion Smith and Kevin Henry each had 10 points with Smith pulling down seven boards. Kawasiki Ricks led the squad in assists with six.
#11 Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (20-3 overall, 13-1 SSAC) with the win, while ABAC (Ga.) falls to (5-15 overall, 1-11 SSAC) with the loss. DS set three more team records in the win. First was largest margin of victory over an opponent at 54. They also hit 50 total field goals in the game and shot at a 70% clip in the second half.
#11 Dalton State continues the road swing, heading to Cochran on Saturday, February 8, for their last SSAC regular season matchup with Middle Georgia State. Tip-Off from Morris Gym is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
