The Chattanooga Mocs moved up the leaderboard at the Florida State Match Up Saturday. The squad’s 298 pushed them into the top 10 into ninth at 611. That’s three behind eighth-place North Florida and four off Missouri in seventh. Troy is a distant 10th with 618.
Violeta Fernandez-Tagle was the catalyst for the moving day effort. Her level-par 72 was supported by Kera Healey at 73. Giulia Foresta came in at 76 with Chloe Stevenazzi adding 77. Nieves Martin posted the drop score with 81.
The host Seminoles lead at 3 under.
They’re a comfortable 13 shots clear of Illinois in second (586). FSU is led by individual leader Mirabel Ting at 11 under.
The tournament concludes with a final 18 on Sunday. The Mocs are paired with Tigers and Osprey teeing off No. 10 at 9:20 a.m. Martin leads off followed in 10-minute increments by Stevenazzi, Foresta, Healey and Fernandez-Tagle.
