The Jericho Brass Band will perform a special free concert, Fiesta, at Founders Hall at the Commons in Collegedale on May 5 to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, a traditional Mexican military victory over the French.
More recently, the date (May 5), has become a time to enjoy and celebrate freedom and the good life with food and beverages with friends and families.
Jericho Brass is taking the festival a step further this year by asking local trumpet/cornet and trombone players to join Jericho for this concert to provide music to celebrate their success and performance from various walks of life. If interested, visit the website to sign up. Once registered, you will be notified of the details to join in with the Jericho Brass Band to provide a special concert of celebratory “party” music for the holiday.
Jericho Brass Band invites friends and families to bring a picnic basket, filled with your preferred food and beverages, to Founders Hall and enjoy the music performance of these musicians together at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 5.
The Jericho Brass Band, under the direction of David Butler, will perform some stylistic festival Mexico music to deliver the sound and spirit of a Mexican fiesta to the Commons. “Y Viva Espana”, “Mexican Fiesta”, and “Concierto de Aranjuez” will be among the songs that will be performed.
Other music, like the “Bugle Call Rag” and “The Attack of the Killer Trombones” will also be performed by the combined group of musicians.
