Lee Athletics Raises Over $76,000 During Second Annual Give Day

  • Monday, June 23, 2025
The Lee University Athletic Department received over $76,000 in donations from 425 donors during its second annual Give Day – Developing Champions in the 423 campaign on Tuesday, April 23.
For the second year in a row, the Lee Athletic Department received over $75,000. The number of donations rose in year two from 315 donors to 425.

General donations will help ensure that the Flames continue to lead the way in the Gulf South Conference and NCAA Division II by providing the preeminent college athletic experience for our student athletes.
That experience includes funding athletic scholarships, facility upgrades, additional staffing, special trips, equipment and uniform upgrades and mental health and leadership development resources which prepare our student-athletes to achieve in every facet of life.

“We are so grateful for the support that we received during our Developing Champions in the 423 campaign—it was a big success!” said Athletic Director John Maupin. “This campaign directly impacts our student-athletes and the experience that we are able to provide.  It also goes a long way in ensuring the future success of the Flames.  We enjoy the opportunity to reach out to our alumni and fans each year during Give Day, and it’s humbling to have so many people that believe in what we’re doing at Lee University.  Go Flames!”

Different team initiatives and campaigns included softball redoing the infield, men and women's soccer and lacrosse each raised money for brand new locker rooms while both golf teams raised money to go towards practice facility upgrades. Teams will also use the money to fund upcoming educational cross-cultural trips such as volleyball heading to Nicaragua in August, and upgrade uniforms and equipment.

"Our second annual Athletic Give Day was a tremendous success thanks to the wonderful support of our alumni, community, family and friends,” said the Director of Donor Relations Carman Lastoria. “I've always believed that people want to partner with organizations that are growing, winning and making an impact and that certainly proved to be the case this year. As Lee Athletics continues to develop into one of the top NCAA DII Programs in the country, we recognize that wouldn't be possible without the financial support of our generous donors. We are fired up to see what next year has in store as we continue to develop and graduate champions in the classroom, their sport, their faith and in the community."

For anyone who missed this year's Give Day but would still like to support the Lee Athletic Department it's not too late to get in the game!  Simply visit https://leeuflames.com/give and donate to your favorite program or the general fund today!
