Baylor Softball Rallies To Force Third Game

The Baylor Lady Red Raiders have never had to play a third “if necessary” game in the state softball tournament quarterfinal round, but they will have to do so on Saturday if they hope to play for their 10 th straight state title next week in Murfreesboro. Baylor lost two straight to Briarcrest in 2008 and didn’t place, but it’s been a cakewalk ever since as the usual two seed from the Memphis area haven’t been very good since then and Baylor normally wins in a two-game sweep. Brandon, Henley First Round Leaders At Signal Mountain

Seth Brandon could not have asked for a much better start to his opening round on Friday at Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club. After beginning play on No. 10, Brandon followed an opening par with three straight birdies that jump started a 5-under-par 30 over his initial nine holes. His closing nine was a bit more uneven, with three bogeys offsetting two more birdies to finish with a 4-under 67 to grab a three-shot lead in the Championship Flight of the Signal Mountain Men’s Invitational. ... more
