The woman who was shot in the rectum by her boyfriend is being released from Erlanger Medical Center after six surgeries, her family said.
Roxanne Arrowsmith had 22 days of intensive treatment and trauma treatment after being shot by Montgomery Hilton Garner, it was stated.
Her family said she will have home nursing. They said she is also an MS patient.
A mental examination was ordered for Garner, who is charged with attempted first-degree murder in the Oct. 26 incident.
Police said the victim suffered "very serious internal injuries."
They said she at first did not tell police what happened because she was concerned due to Garner being abusive to her.
She later said he was upset and intoxicated when he penetrated her rear with the barrel of a .38-caliber revolver and fired the weapon.
It occurred on Oak Ridge Drive.
Garner was on probation for a previous domestic assault against the same victim.
He is on $1 million bond on that probation violation as well as another $1 million bond on the attempted murder.
