Roy Rogers-Dale Evans Museum to open
A June 20 grand opening is scheduled for the highly anticipated Roy Rogers-Dale Evans Museum in Branson.
Originally slated to open on Memorial Day weekend, a construction delay was caused when staff were reassigned to assist with recovery efforts associated with the May 4 tornadoes that devastated several southwest Missouri communities.
"The tornado cleanup and recovery efforts certainly took precedence," said Roy "Dusty" Rogers, Jr.
A 19-foot high statue of Trigger was put in place in April at the entrance to the museum just off Branson's famous West Hwy. 76 "Strip," and many other items have been moved from the museum's original location in Victorville, California.
Dusty Rogers and family are building the new facility adjacent to Celebration City, Branson's new theme park. The Rogers-Evans museum is a 26,250-square foot structure which also holds the 300-seat Happy Trails Theater, where Dusty and his band the High Riders will perform.
The museum will feature memorabilia including wardrobes, photos of celebrity friends, Roy Rogers' favorite fishing lures, Nellybelle, the Jeep featured on their long-running television show; and mounted figures of their famous horses Trigger and Buttermilk.
