Our summer programming at Avondale Community Center is more than just a camp - it’s a hub for wellness, creativity, and community connection.

Each week, we offer engaging activities for our campers and their families, including our Youth Health and Wellness Community Workout Jam in collaboration with the Office of Community Health held today (Monday) led by local fitness instructor Tobe Taylor and energized with music by The MillionDolla Man. These events encourage healthy habits while fostering a fun and supportive environment for all ages.

All of our Summer Camp staff are current college students who bring passion, energy, and mentorship to the campers. We are proud to serve as positive role models while helping young people build confidence, skills, and community spirit.

Our Summer Staff employees are Kennedy Garrett (Junior, attending Middle Tennessee State University), C’Naiya Dozier (Junior, attending Clark Atlanta University), CaNasia Williams (Sophomore, attending Dalton State), Kaden Herman (Junior, attending Chattanooga State), and Jordon Beck (Senior, attending Cleveland State). Our full-time staff employees are Center manager Gerald Perry, Ms. Lexine Alexander, Virginia Rivers, and Jeffery Parrish.
Our work wouldn’t be possible without the strong support of our local leaders, including District 8 Vice Chair Councilwoman Marvene Noel. This continued commitment to the well-being of our community helps make our programs successful and accessible.
Throughout the summer, we've also welcomed a number of amazing organizations that bring enriching and diverse experiences to our campers. These include Child Evangelist Ministries, Student Life, On Point, the Chattanooga Football Club Foundation, and local dance programs that offer expression and movement in creative ways.
As a team, we believe the work being done at Avondale is something special - and a true reflection of what community investment and collaboration can look like. We would be honored to be featured in a story to help shine a light on how Avondale Community Center is helping shape the future of District 8, thanks to the unwavering support of leaders, organizations, and everyday citizens alike.
