SunTrust's Margaret Callihan Taking Bank Post In Florida

Current Chamber, Enterprise Center Board Chairman

Margaret L. Callihan, who currently serves as chairman, president and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Chattanooga, is taking a new position in Florida.

SunTrust officials said Ms. Callihan, 49, will assume the role of chairman, president and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Southwest Florida on Jan. 1.

Ms. Callihan's successor in Chattanooga will be announced at a later date.

Margaret Callihan was named president of the SunTrust Bank in Chattanooga in 2001 and was promoted to chairman and chief executive officer in 2002. Prior that, Ms. Callihan served as the Retail Banking line of business manager for SunTrust in Tennessee and Alabama. Since joining SunTrust in 1978, she has held a variety of increasingly responsible positions including Middle Tennessee Branch Administrator with responsibility for all branches and Private Banking Groups in the Nashville area.

Ms. Callihan is chairman of the board of the newly formed Enterprise Center which oversees the Chattanooga city and Hamilton county technology initiatives. She also serves on the board of trustees for the University of Chattanooga Foundation, Inc. and is the chairman of the board of directors of the Greater Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the boards of directors of the Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga, the United Way of Greater Chattanooga, and Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise. She is also a member of the UTC Roundtable for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga

Ms. Callihan earned a BA cum laude, and an MBA at Vanderbilt University. She successfully completed the course of study of the Graduate School of Banking of the South at LSU, and the Colgate Darden Commercial Lending Decisions and Advanced Commercial Lending School.
