Mindaugas Katelynas
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga basketball forward Mindaugas Katelynas was selected to the 2005 Coaches All-Southern Conference Basketball Team, the league announced this week.
Katelynas, a senior from Alytus, Lithuania, is averaging 11.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game this year. He averaged 7.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game last year as a junior.
Katelynas ranks third among SoCon players in rebounding and stands third in field goal percentage at .558. His scoring average ranks 19th in the league.
Katelynas leads the Mocs in double-doubles with eight and has recorded six double-doubles in the last 11 games. He has scored in double digits a team-best 17 times and led the squad in scoring in eight games and in rebounds 14 times.
Only six of the 12 SoCon teams were represented on the Coaches Team.
The 10-man All-SoCon Team includes Tony Mitchell of College of Charleston; Brendan Winters and Logan Kosmalski of Davidson; Tim Smith of East Tennessee State; Jean Francois, Elton Nesbitt and Terry Williams of Georgia Southern; and Ronnie Burrell and Kyle Hines of UNC Greensboro.
Winters was voted the SoCon Player of the Year. Davidson Head Coach Bill McKillop was selected the SoCon Coach of the Year, and Hines was the Freshman of the Year.
