Hutcheson Medical Center announced the opening of The Diabetes and Thyroid Treatment Center at Hutcheson on the Parkway, located at 4700 Battlefield Parkway in Ringgold.

The state-of-the-art treatment center will offer a full range of endocrine services including treating diabetes, thyroid, pituitary and adrenal disorders, and will be under the medical direction of Endocrinologist, Dianne C. Roland, M.D., F.A.C.E.

“Diabetes is a local and world wide epidemic and is getting worse as our population gets heavier and older,” states Dr. Roland. “At the same time we are seeing diabetes occurring at younger ages.” Dr. Roland also advised that thyroid disease is more common that one would think, especially in women.

Charles Stewart, President and CEO of Hutcheson Medical Center advised Hutcheson is continually assessing the healthcare needs of the region to determine how it can better serve area communities. “It is part of our mission to offer easily accessible services like the new Diabetes and Thyroid Treatment Center so patients can be treated close to home,” states Mr. Stewart. “This center and Dr. Roland will be tremendous assets to the Northwest Georgia and Chattanooga area.”

When asked why Dr. Roland moved her services to North Georgia and Hutcheson on the Parkway, "incredible growth and friendly people" were among her top reasons. “The North Georgia and Southeast Tennessee areas are growing by leaps and bounds, and the people are wonderful. It’s a great place to build a medical practice,” states Roland.

Dr. Roland earned her Medical Degree from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine and completed her Internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Chicago where she also completed a Fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism.

Most recently, Dr. Roland practiced at the Diagnostic Center in Chattanooga and has affiliations with area Chattanooga hospitals.

Throughout her medical career, Dr. Roland has been the recipient of many honors and awards including being featured in the 2005-2006 Best Doctors in America, a Life Member of Kingston’s National Registry of Who’s Who in 2002 and is a recipient of the Achievement Award from the American Medical Women’s Association.

“We are proud to have Dr. Roland as part of our medical staff,” states Mr. Stewart. “Diabetes and thyroid diseases are such prevalent disease in this area. Dr. Roland is a well-known endocrinologist and will do an excellent job in serving the entire region.”

An open house is scheduled for The Diabetes and Thyroid Treatment Center on Dec. 7, from 4-6 p.m., with a ribbon cutting at 5 p.m. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call Hutcheson’s Marketing and Public Relation’s Department at 706-858-2075.
