Signal Centers announced three new board of directors members. Sandy Zabel, Dr. Quincy Jenkins, and Greg Eaves begin their three-year terms this month.
“We are thrilled to welcome three exceptional leaders to our board of directors,” said Donna McConnico, CEO of Signal Centers. “Each brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and deep commitment to serving our community. Their diverse backgrounds in finance, education, and nonprofit development will help to strengthen our mission to foster independence, dignity, and hope for all.”
The business and affairs of the 68-year-old nonprofit organization are managed under the authority and direction of the board. Daily responsibility to manage the agency is in the hands of Chief Executive Officer Donna McConnico. Five working committees and six officers keep the governing body moving forward.
With a background in accounting, finance, small business ownership and non-profit development and fundraising, Ms. Zabel has offered her experience and skills to worthy organizations in the Chattanooga, Richmond, Va., and Overland Park, Ks. areas over the last 30 years. She has most recently served as development director at the Speech and Hearing Center and development officer for the Northside Neighborhood House. She has served in various capacities in numerous non-profit organizations, including Baylor School, Boy Scouts of America, and Chattanooga Breakfast Rotary, and currently serves on the Board of the Northside Neighborhood House. She is a graduate of Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance and began her career at Ernst and Young. She has held roles in audit, financial analysis, sales and marketing and fundraising. She was a previous board member for The Speech & Hearing Center and currently serves on its advisory committee.
Dr. Jenkins serves as vice president of organizational culture and engagement at Chattanooga State. He oversees human resources at Chatt State, bringing more than 17 years of experience in higher education. A native of Carrollton, Ga., he previously led Latino/a outreach at Dalton State, contributing to its recognition as Georgia’s first Hispanic-Serving Institution. Dr. Jenkins earned his doctorate from Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College and is multilingual, fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, and Chamorro/Guamanian.
Mr. Eaves is the executive vice president and chief financial officer at EPB. With nearly 30 years of experience in financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, and debt management, he has also led the information technology, fiber optics sales, and legal divisions during his tenure. A Chattanooga native, he holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Rotary Club of Chattanooga, Financial Executives International, and the Tennessee Society of CPAs. His diverse background spans leadership roles in manufacturing, healthcare, and financial services.
