Jean was an independent and brave person. She joined the Women’s Army Corps during World War II in order to be near her brother Jim, who had been seriously wounded at the Battle of the Bulge. Her plan paid off and they were reunited in an army hospital in France. After the victory in Europe was declared, she was shipped back home on the U.S.S. Enterprise, where she met her future husband, "T" Bott. They had a wonderful marriage of 56 years. The traveled the United States, moving with T’s work until they settled happily in their retirement years in Wilson, NC.

Jean was a member of the Wilson Women’s Club and served one year as president. She and T were also members of the Wilson Country Club. They attended the First Christian Church.

After T’s passing in 2002, Jean moved to Chattanooga where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law. Jean made many dear friends over the years and enjoyed corresponding and visiting with her many friends from all over the country as often as possible. She was a wonderful wife and mother to her husband and children and she was a special grandmother as well. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Special thanks is given to her caregiver Cathy Mullins, and the fine and dedicated staff at Alexian Village. Hospice of Chattanooga provided great comfort and care to the family who ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 58 Commons, Suite 101, 4355 Highway 58, Chattanooga, TN 37416, or the Chattanooga Humane Society.
