Hamilton Medical Center celebrated its volunteers during National Volunteer Week, April 20-26. A celebration luncheon was provided.
“Volunteers are such a great asset to Hamilton,” said Gay Ann Talley, volunteer supervisor. “We are so fortunate to have people in our community that want to give back by serving others. I am blessed beyond measure to work with the volunteers each day.”
Officials said, "Previously, we have logged more than 17,000 hours each year (varies from year to year).
HMC is always accepting volunteers for a variety of tasks. Volunteers may choose from one or more areas in which to work: admissions, pet therapy, SICU surgical waiting assistant, emergency room, gift shop, patient escort, MICU desk assistant, Peeples Cancer Institute (radiology, registration desk, patient care representative, Starbucks), Hamilton Hospice, Bradley Wellness Center, Hamilton Diagnostics Center or as a patient care representative.
"Benefits include covered parking, a complimentary meal with each three-hour shift up to $10, discounted membership to Bradley Wellness Center after three months of service and while service is current, annual flu vaccine, discounts on non-prescription items at HMC RX Care, free educational opportunities and recognition events such as National Volunteer Week and an annual recognition luncheon (celebration of hours and years of service) held in November each year."
Applicants must commit to serving for one year at least three hours per week, have current flu vaccinations and have an annual educational review.
