UTC will offer athletic camps this summer in basketball, softball, volleyball, football, women’s soccer and wrestling.
The Lady Mocs Basketball Camp will begin on June 4-8 and is open to girls ages 8-15. The camp will take place at the McKenzie Arena and Maclellan Gym. It will feature Division 1 players and coaches and focus on basketball fundamentals. Cost is $175 prior to May 26, 2006, $200 after May 26 (if space available). There is a special UTC employee rate of $150; application must be marked F/S in right corner.
The Fast pitch Softball Camp, instructed by UTC head coach Frank Reed and his coaching staff, will run from June 19-21 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The camp is for girls ages 7-18 and will cover hitting, fielding, pitching and catching at Warner Park Fields. The cost is $125 and includes a camp T-shirt. All participants should bring a sack lunch, and concessions will be provided.
The UT-Chattanooga Boys Basketball Camp will be held from June 25-29 on the campus of Baylor School. Chattanooga head coach John Shulman will run the camp, and all boys ages 6-18 are invited to attend. The camp will focus on providing young players with shooting, ball handling, defense, rebounding, strength training, teamwork and sportsmanship drills. The overnight camper fee is $295, which includes four nights of lodging in campus dorms and meals from Monday through Thursday lunch. The commuter fee is $240, and includes all meals through Thursday lunch except for breakfast. There is a $50 deposit with an application and is non-refundable in the event of a withdrawal.
The 2006 Lady Mocs Volleyball Camp will run from June 26-27 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. The camp is for anyone in grades 4-8 and the cost is $50. The Volleyball Skills Camp will be held on June 28-30, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for ages 9-17. Cost is $125.
The 2006 Chattanooga Football Camp invites interested football players who are in grades 8-12 to register for football camp. The four-day camp runs from July 9-12 and includes sessions for offensive linemen, tight ends, defensive linemen, linebackers and skill position players.
Head Coach J.D. Kyzer’s Soccer Centre will hold two camps this summer, About Kyzer’s High School Preseason Team Camp and Shots and Saves Camp. The high school camp runs from July 23-27 and is available on first come, first serve basis. The camp will prepare campers for the upcoming season and each will receive a written evaluation of skills performed well and skills needing improvement. Each player will also receive a notebook and handouts during classroom sessions on “How to be Recruited” and the “College Process.” Camp tuition is $450 per player for residential and is $350 for commuter. Tuition is due two weeks before camp. The Shots and Saves Camp runs from July 22-23 and is designed to work on technique, power, and accuracy for field players. Keepers will train with live shots, work on diving technique, and hand positioning. Cost is $100.
Joe Seay “Bad Boy” Wrestling Camps will run various types of camps throughout the summer. Each athlete will gain knowledgeable and technical skills from counselors who have been champions and All-Americans. Each wrestler will learn technical improvements that can be exposed to training methods that will enhance their success and confidence on and off the mat. Each camp will have a variety of clinicians giving advice on nutrition, weight control, conditioning, strength training and mental preparations.
