Chattanooga closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule Wednesday evening with a 2-0 win over Tennessee Tech in its final game at Frost Stadium this season.
Peja Goold picked up her 22nd win over the season and combined with Taylor Long for the shutout. Goold is tied for seventh at UTC for wins in a single season. Long went five and-a-third innings and struck out six with one walk and four hits. Goold struck out three of the five batters she faced.
Camryn Cernuto opened up the sixth with a single up the middle and stole second.
Acelynn Sellers had a hard hit to short that was stopped on a diving play to keep the ball infield, but Cernuto slid in safe at third and Sellers took second.
Baileigh Pitts took a 2-2 count to right field for a sac fly, scoring Cernuto and putting Sellers 60 feet closer to home. Jayce Purdy was all over the second pitch she saw, belting a shot to deep center that hit the fence, scoring Sellers to make it 2-0.
Purdy went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Sellers was 2-for-3 and scored the Mocs second run. Cernuto was 1-for-2 with a run scored and a sacrifice hit. Pitts was 1-for-1, driving in the game winning RBI.
The Golden Eagles loaded the bases in the first on a pair of singles and a walk, however, Long, with one out, struck out one and got a ground out to get out of the inning. Tennessee Tech did not leave any more runners stranded.
