Lone Oak Has Winners At Sequatchie County Fair

A number of individuals from the Lone Oak Community Center were winners in the recent Sequatchie County Fair, winning in categories such as Food Preparation, Sewing, Handicrafts, Quilting and Scrapbooks.

In Food Preparation, Rachel Merrell in the student division was first in decorated cup cake, chocolate chip cookies and cornmeal muffins; in the adult division, Carla Merrell was second in biscuits; Pauline Geary was third in cake made from mix and second in cornmeal muffins; Ruth Robinson was second in candy.

In Handicrafts, Pauline Geary was first in holiday article and Ruth Robinson was first in wall hanging and second in Christmas article.

In Sewing, Pauline Geary was first in apron and Ruth Robinson was third in apron and first in casual dress.

In Scrapbooks, Lone Oak FCE, first in Family and Community Education clubs, Lone Oak Seniors, third in other civic or community clubs, Rachel Merrell, second in student family scrapbook.

In Art, Ruth Robinson, first in water color. In Household Linens and Needlework, Ruth Robinson, second in pillowcase, third in pot holder, first in recycled item, first in rug.

In Quilting, Helen Cooper was first, Juanita Harmon second and Pauline Geary third in any other quilted article; Lone Oak Seniors were first in group quilt and Sequatchie County FCE Club in group quilt top. Others were Juanita Harmon, first in appliqued quilt top, second in Christmas quilt top, second in embroidered quilt top, second in pieced quilt top, first in Christmas quilt, first in machine embroidered quilt, second in machine pieced quilt, first in mini quilt and third in quilt block; Helen Cooper, art quilt top; Pauline Geary, third in embroidered quilt top, second in machine pieced quilt, second in mini quilt, second in quilt block; Dori Brown, first in embroidered quilt top, third in other baby quilt, second in hand embroidered quilt, third in hand pieced quilt, first in whole cloth quilt; Joel Bullock, first in machine pieced quilt; Shirley Clingerman, second in old quilt, second in cathedral window quilt; Ruth Robinson, second in pieced baby quilt top, first in redwork quilt top, second in first time quilt, third in Christmas quilt, first in crazy quilt, first in YoYo quilt.
