Mildred Willean Coulter O’Neal, 88, of Sale Creek, died on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at her home surrounded by family.
Mildred lived for many years in Sale Creek, where she and her husband, A.J. Coulter and four children ran Rockyside Lunch & Grocery from 1946-69.
Mildred was also a longtime resident of Middle Tennessee, as she and her siblings were born and raised in Irving College. She moved back to the McMinnville, Tn., area later in life, where she and her second husband, Clifton O’Neal, were active members of the Church of Christ at Hebron.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie W. and Rosa Lee Gross; husbands, A.J. Coulter and Clifton O’Neal; brothers, Waymon Gross and James “Denton” Gross; sister, Imogene Barker; and son, Johnny L. Coulter.
Survivors include her children, Dan (Ginger) Coulter, of Dayton, Tn., Patti (Glenn) Aslinger and Fred (Kathryn) Coulter, of Sale Creek; siblings, A. “Wenton” Gross, of Crossville, Tn., Ralph E. Gross, of Irving College, and Jo Ruth Northcutt, of Phoenix, Az.; grandchildren, Vicky King, Angie Sharp, Lori Estes, Sarah Standifer, Brooke Winsett, Alan Coulter, Lanita Copas and Candace Winsett; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, in the chapel of Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home with Minister Chris Perry officiating.
A graveside service will immediately follow at Rhea Memory Gardens. Pallbearers are relatives, Eric Copas, Shaun Standifer, Bobby Sharp, Curtis Estes, Terry Gross, and Frank Coulter Jr.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday at Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home, 1670 Market St., Dayton.
