Please join me in re-electing Linda Bennett to the Chattanooga City Council. Linda has worked hard for the past four years, listening to her constituents and then implementing solutions to our concerns, such as out-of-control development in District 1.
Linda has brought increased professionalism to the job and earned the respect of her peers, as shown by her election as chairwoman of the Council. During these times of economic uncertainty it will be essential that the Council can work together toward greater financial accountability and responsibility in city government.
Let’s keep Linda on the Council so we can all benefit from the experience and momentum that Linda has started to build.

I recently attended a forum that featured candidates running for City Council from District 1. The major thing that was obvious from start to finish was that the incumbent Linda Bennett was by far the most knowledgeable on the issues. She answered every question and gave insight on the workings of the City Council.
The other two candidates appeared to be clueless. When asked about community leadership experience, Mr. Graham and Mrs. Scott appeared to have very little local involvement with their communities. I find it odd that candidates who do not serve their own communities feel they are qualified to serve the District and the city of Chattanooga.
Linda Bennett, on the other hand, volunteered for years in her community and founded a community neighborhood association prior to being elected to the City Council.
Mrs. Scott says that she is running on a “Common Sense” platform, but then she mentioned that she has been going to City Council meetings for over three years. My question to Mrs. Scott is why would you attend meetings for over three years and never speak up on any issues or contact anyone on the Council (especially your Council representative)? Do we really want to elect someone who has sat in a corner for years and never spoken up? If you ask me, this really makes “No Sense.”
I would mention some specifics on Mr. Graham, but I really didn’t feel that he said anything of substance. When asked almost any question, he went off on some tangent and never addressed the issues.
That is why I urge voters to go out on March 3 and re-elect Linda Bennett for City Council, District 1.
