Don C. O’Shell, 90, of Dayton, died on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 at Rhea Medical Center in Dayton.
He was born in Altoona, Pa. on Aug. 15, 1919 the son of the late George and Hazel (Taylor) O’Shell and was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Daniel Stevens.
Don lived in Altoona, Pa. until moving to Berea, Oh. where he stayed until moving to Dayton in 2004. Don had been employed with the Pennsylvania Railroad, Nestaway and then was a school teacher where he taught Vocational Ed in Polaris, Oh. He served his country with the US Navy Seabees during WWII. While in Ohio he was a member of the Berea Baptist Church and Grace Bible Church after moving to Dayton, Tn.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Vivian (Bigelow) O’Shell; three daughters, Sue Stevens, Connie (Marty) Hartzell and Sally (Jerry) Griswold all of Dayton; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be held Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 11:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with his pastor, Dr. Doug Russell officiating. Military honors will be provided by the US Navy.
