Lester “L.T.” Davis, 74, of Old Fort, Tn., died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 in a Chattanooga hospital.
Mr. Davis was the son of the late Velma Mae Curbow Davis and Lester Taft Davis Sr; and was also preceded in death by his sister, Lillian Hall.
Mr. Davis was retired from Jackson Manufacturing as an upholsterer with over 28 years of service. He loved bluegrass music, working in his vegetable garden, building bird houses and feeding the birds and traveling especially along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Mr. Davis was a 40 year member of the Antioch Church of Christ in Polk County.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Davis of Old Fort; his daughter, Becky Stokes and her husband Tommy of Old Fort; his son, Jonathan Davis and his wife Susan of Cleveland; his grandchildren, Christopher Davis of Cleveland and Jessica and Michaela Stokes both of Old Fort; his sister, Wilma Hall; his brothers, Ray Davis and his wife Cleo, Lynn Davis and his wife Stella and Joe Davis and his wife Katherine all of Old Fort; his sister-in-law, Loretta Sherrell of Chatsworth; his brothers-in-law, D. L. Wilson and his wife Gail of Cleveland, Mack Wilson and his wife Irene of Crandall, Ga. and Larry Wilson and his wife Lisa of Chatsworth; and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Saturday, December 3 at 2 p.m. from the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Minister Doyle Partin officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Church of Christ Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers. A Dove release will conclude the services.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday, December 2 at the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.
