Mocs, Blood Assurance Partner For 'I Bleed Blue and Gold' Month

  • Wednesday, November 14, 2012

The Chattanooga Mocs and Blood Assurance are giving Mocs fans another chance to show that they bleed Blue and Gold this year! To kick-off the Mocs and Lady Mocs basketball seasons, during the month of November, Blood Assurance is hosting an 'I Bleed Blue & Gold' blood donation initiative.

The need for life-saving blood donations is as high as ever and will only increase as the holidays approach! Each donation has the potential to get 3 patients here in Chattanooga back in the game of life.

As the regional blood center, Blood Assurance is the only provider of blood components to more than 50 hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina.

During the month of November, bring your Mocs or Lady Mocs Basketball ticket stub or UTC Student ID to the 4th Street Blood Assurance location (across from McKenzie Arena) to get your exclusive 'I Bleed Blue and Gold' t-shirt when you give the gift of life. Donors will also be eligible to enter to win Reserved Lower-Bowl Mocs Men's Basketball season tickets for games beginning with Davidson on December 1.

To be eligible to donate, you must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. The process usually takes about 30 minutes and includes a complimentary snack. Donors are asked to drink plenty of fluids - avoiding caffeine - and eat a meal that is rich in iron prior to donating.
