HomeServe USA Partners With Habitat For Humanity To Build Home For Chattanooga Resident

  • Friday, April 13, 2012

HomeServe USA (HomeServe) employees teamed up with members of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area on April 5, to support the chapter’s build for a local resident.

To help support the April 5 build day, 12 employees from HomeServe, a leading provider of emergency home repair service plans, stepped away from their computers, rolled up their sleeves, and volunteered their time.

“HomeServe employees have always made a point to support the communities where they live and work, and I’m especially proud of the Chattanooga team that stepped up to help with this build,” said Tom Rusin, chief executive officer of HomeServe.  “In order to be a successful business, I believe that we must also be a responsible one - Habitat for Humanity aligns very well with our core business, and we’re honored to help them support their mission.”

This is the second time HomeServe employees have participated in a Chattanooga build. So far in 2012, HomeServe employees in Miami, Fla. and Stamford, Conn. have also volunteered their time to Habitat builds in their local communities.

“I’m proud that our employees selected Habitat for Humanity as a charitable organization," said Mr. Rusin. “Together, we’re helping to fulfill Habitat’s mission of providing people in need with decent, safe and affordable housing.”

After renting for her entire life, Winifred, a lifelong Chattanooga resident, is going to be receiving a new home in the next few weeks. She is a single woman living on disability, and she will now have a place to call her own, and a home that she can be proud of.  HomeServe employees, as well as the city itself, and other corporate, individual and faith community partners, helped construct a shed to accompany the home that Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area is building. Winifred is so excited about her new home; she has been actively helping in the build process, eager to lend a hand wherever she is able.
