William James Amos

William James Amos was born on January 28, 1937 to the late Prince and Mattie Amos.  He died on October 24, 2013.  

He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of New Emmanuel Baptist Church.  He was retired from Ross Mahan.

He was preceded in death by five sisters, Lenora Griffin, Margaret Robinson, Mildred Lloyd, Mary Thornton and Annie Maude Talbert; two brothers, Prince Amos, Jr., and Johnnie Amos.

He is survived by one daughter, Deborah Franklin of Chattanooga; one granddaughter, Lashonda Franklin; one sister, Lillie Mae Reese of Cleveland, Oh.; one sister-in-law, Lou Ella Amos of Sugarland, Tx.; one brother, Charles Amos of Washington, D.C.; devoted friend, Louise Franklin; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Friday, Nov. 1, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Minister Kenneth Simpson, Sr.,  officiating.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon on Thursday, Oct. 31, and the family will receive friends from 6–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
