Chattanooga State Hosts Wellness Expo May 3

  • Monday, April 15, 2013

The Community Health Institute at Chattanooga State Community College will host the “6th Annual Health, Fun, and Wellness Expo” on Friday, May 3 from 9 a.m. -1 p.m. in the Health Science Center located on the main campus on Amnicola Highway. Parking is free and easily accessible.

Numerous free health screenings as well as exhibits by area health professionals and wellness-related organizations will be offered at this comprehensive health fair. Pharmacists will also be available to answer questions.

The goal of the health fair is to provide valuable information that will enhance the lifestyle of adult men and women. The event is open to the public. However, guests are requested not to bring children or strollers.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department will conduct “Operation Medicine Cabinet”, a drug take back program that allows the public to turn in unwanted medications for proper disposal, which helps keep medications out of the hands of children and the water supply. Those wishing to turn in medications can simply drive through the designated drop-off circle without having to leave their vehicle.

Sponsors of the event include Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee Community Trust, Blush Magazine, Chattem, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, Walmart Pharmacy, and Chattanooga State.

For information regarding exhibitor registration, please contact Dr. Nancy Watts, director Community Health Institute, at nancy.watts@chattanoogastate.edu.
