A home was damaged by fire Thursday morning in the Highway 58 area.

A homeowner called 911 at 9 a.m. and reported a house fire at 6613 Shore Crest Drive. The Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department responded and reported heavy smoke and fire showing at the rear of the house. Firefighters quickly entered the home and conducted an interior attack in the upstairs bathroom. They extinguished the fire and were able to stop the fire from spreading throughout the rest of the house.

According to Highway 58 VFD Assistant Chief Darren Brandon, the homeowner was downstairs in the kitchen and saw flames pouring out the window from an upstairs bathroom. She immediately evacuated the home and called for help.

No injuries were reported, but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries. The homeowner's dog died in the fire.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. Chief Brandon reported $60,000 in damages. The homeowner was insured and will be staying with family and friends.
