Billy S. Kelley Sr., 67, of Chickamauga, died on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at a local hospital.  

He was a lifelong resident of Walker County where he had worked for E.T. Barwick in Kensington, was a manager and landscaper for Wayne Snow Nursery in Rock Spring, and retired in the 1990’s from Roper Corporation with 13 years of service.  He was a member of the Roper Bass Club/South Georgia Bass Club and was of the Baptist Faith.  His passions in life were his family, grandchildren, and fishing.


He was preceded in death by his son, Dale Kelley; mother, Pauline Rhinehart; and father, Stewart Kelley.


Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Janet Kelley; children, Billy (Amy) Kelley, Jr. of Chickamauga and Donna (Michael) Sherrill of Chickamauga; sisters, Betty Day and Patricia Branam, both of Rossville; brother, John Kelley of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Matthew Sherrill, Heather Kelley, MyKayla Kelley, Cameron Kelley, and Benjamin Kelley; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Jeremy Neal and Reverend Alfred Holland officiating.


Interment will follow in the Lafayette Memory Gardens.


The family will receive friends Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 2, from 1-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
