Mary Julia Hicks, 75, of Dalton, GA, died Thursday, August 22, 2013 at her residence. 

Mary was born April 5, 1938 in Spiro, OK to the late Willie and Effie Laughlin.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Emory Hicks; sons, Tommy “Tom” Kirby of Dalton, GA and Tommy “Dooley” Hicks of Chatsworth, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Chris Roach of Calhoun, GA and Tonya Pugh of Chatsworth, GA; brother, Dennis Laughlin of Bakersfield, CA; sisters, Dovie Stanley of Dalton, GA and Anita Karl of Spiro, OK; grandchildren, Erica and Jimmy Stewart, Julia Williams of Calhoun, GA, Dalton Curtis of Lafayette, GA, Tommy Lee Hicks of Dalton, GA, Alex Hicks and Chris Hicks of Chatsworth, GA; and nieces and nephews.      

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mary Julia Hicks will be held Saturdaym August 24, at 3 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Billy Willis and Reverend Dallas Frazier officiating. She will be laid to rest at the United Memorial Gardens with Gene Goble, Danny Walkey, Calvin Howard, Alex Hicks, Tommy B. Hicks, Chris Roach and Tommy Lee Hicks serving as pallbearers.  

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5-9 p.m. Friday, August 23.

Arrangements are by Ponders Melrose Chapel, Dalton.
