Cooper, Lloyd Eugene Jr. (Dalton)

  • Monday, September 2, 2013

Lloyd Eugene Cooper, Jr., 62, of Dalton, GA, passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Eugene Cooper, Sr.

He was retired from the Dalton Police Department after 31 years of service. He was a member of Grove Level Baptist Church. Cooper was a strong, loving man, who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially his best friend, his cat Harry. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a new joke to tell that would bring a smile to your face. One of his favorite past times was grilling out and trying new recipes, and he never let you get away from a family gathering without trying his 5-alarm chili or his barbecued ribs! He was quite the technology wiz and movie buff, which was a good combination because you could sit and watch those movies while he fixed your computer. The joy of the Lord in his heart was reflected in the life he lived and in the lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed until we meet again in Heaven. The Cooper family would also like to share their appreciation for the wonderful, caring staff of the Cardiology Departments of Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN and the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, AL.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Jo Marie Cooper of the residence; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Jeremy Bisalski of Palmerston North, New Zealand; son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd Eugene Cooper, III and Gina Cooper of Cleveland; mother, Edna Ruth Land of Tunnel Hill; two sisters, Sandra Morrison of Ohio and Cindy Cooper of Dalton; brothers, Dwayne Cooper of Maryville, TN and Dan Treas, Jr. of Hawaii; three grandchildren, Amber and Payton Cooper and Madalan Bisalski; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service to honor the life of Lloyd Cooper will be held Wednesday, September 4, at 2 p.m. at Grove Level Baptist Church with Dr. Charlie Bridges, Chaplain Don Triek and Rev. Ronald Guffey officiating. Burial will be in United Memorial Gardens. Members of the Dalton Police Department will serve as active and honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, September 3 from 5-9 p.m.

Julian Peeples Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
