Thomas “Tommy” Walter Jackson, 52, of Dalton, GA, died Sunday evening, September 22, 2013 at the local hospital.
Tommy was born May 21, 1961 in Newnan, GA. He was employed at Shaw Industries for over 35 years at plant # 81. Tommy loved sports. He enjoyed watching the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves. He also loved fishing, boating and skiing. Tommy was a member of the Mineral Springs United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Freddie Jackson in 1997.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Charlotte Dalton Jackson of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Grace Jackson; grandsons, Hunter Coots and Levi Coots all of Chatsworth, GA; mother, Eva Vean Daniels Jackson of Dalton, GA; sister, Lavon and Randall Cross of Dalton, GA; brothers, Freddie and Brenda Jackson, Billy Jackson, David Jackson all of Dalton and James and Esther Jackson of Augusta, GA; mother-in-law, Ruth Dalton; brothers-in-law, Tommy and Ann Dalton, Donnie and Darlene Dalton, Lonnie Dalton and Marty Dalton; special friend, George Smithy all of Dalton, GA; his very special companion, Hershey, his cocker spaniel; and several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Walter Jackson will be held Thursday, September 26, at 4 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Gordon DeLashmitt officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Mineral Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery with his nephews and close friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, September 25 and after noon Thursday, September 26.
