The Dalton State Athletic Department, in conjunction with Optilink, is conducting free athletic clinics for area youth. Athletic Director Derek Waugh says the clinics are open to all youth and no experience in the sport is necessary.

The first two clinics are set for January and February.  A baseball clinic will be led by major league baseball player Mitchell Boggs, former Dalton High School and college star Bart Rich, and former college baseball coach Richard Skeel. It will take place at the PROFORMANCE Indoor Baseball Facility at 203 Foster Road in Dalton.

The baseball clinic will be held on Saturday, and will run from 12-2 p.m. It is open to all youth (boys and girls) ages 7-14.  Please bring a baseball glove to the Clinic.

Dalton State Head Volleyball Coach Bruna Langner will conduct a clinic on Feb. 1, at the newly- renovated Bandy Gymnasium on Dalton State’s Campus.  The clinic is open to ages seven-14 (boys and girls) and will run from 12-2 p.m.

“The Optilink Clinics are a great way for our athletic department to give back to the community,” said Mr. Waugh.  “Everyone who attends will get a chance to learn fundamentals, interact with our coaches and players and get a free Dalton State Athletics/Optilink t-shirt.”

“We wanted to make sure the clinics were free so that no one would be excluded,” Mr. Waugh added. “We thank Dalton Utilities and Optilink for their support.”
