Gilliam, Mary Elizabeth Bookout (South Pittsburg)

Mary Elizabeth Bookout Gilliam, 85, of South Pittsburg, TN, died Sunday, October 19, 2014 at her home following an extended illness. 

The daughter of the late Gaines Hester “GH” and Alice Price Bookout, she was a former employee of Pittsburg Knitting Mill and loved to sew.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gilliam; and three sisters, Louise Rowe, Shirley Evans and an infant sister. 

She is survived by her children, Donald Wayne (Haydee) Gilliam of Pembroke Pines, FL, Brenda Diane (Bobby) Rogers of Bridgeport, AL and Terry Lee Gilliam of South Pittsburg; grandsons, Chris Gilliam of Pembroke Pines, FL and Steven Rogers of Bridgeport; one great-grandchild, Morgan Rogers; sisters, Opal Servant of Columbus, OH, Joyce Steele of South Pittsburg and Virginia Moore of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Central time on Wednesday, October 22, with Rev. Joe David Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, TN. 

The family will receive friends for visitation from 3-8 p.m. Central time on Tuesday, October 21 at the Rogers Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
