Hazel Louise Rowton, 98, of Benton, TN, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 in a Chattanooga health care facility.
She was a retired nurse and medical secretary. Hazel was a member of the First Baptist Church in Benton. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, traveling with seniors from church and being with her family and little poodle, Pepe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Alfred Rowton; parents, William Henry Haigwood and Iva Elizabeth Peeples Haigwood; infant son, Henry Alfred Rowton, II; sisters, Mabel Baskin and Jessie Pitts Gipson; and brother, George H. Haigwood.
Survivors include her son, James Alfred Rowton and wife Linda of Benton; grandchildren, Will Rowton of Moore, SC, Emily Rowton Russell and husband, Aaron of Kennesaw, GA and Greg Deal and wife, Lara of Peachtree City, GA; great-grandchildren, Greyson Russell and Isia Russell, both of Kennesaw, GA, Ryan Deal of Chicago, IL, Cali Deal of Peachtree City, GA and Emma Deal Musser and Rhys Bruning, both of Tampa, FL; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Sheffer and husband, Eric of Ft. Smith, AR, Karen Haigwood and George Haigwood, both of Kansas City, MO and Judy Shook and husband, Roy of Clarksville, AR; and special friends, Conny McCaston and Susan Musser.
The funeral will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 24, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. Robbie Speights officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery in Clarksville, AR.
Her family will receive friends from 5-6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 24 at the Higgins Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
