Willie Kate McField
The Reverend Willie Kate McField, 83, died on November 28, 2014 in Clermont, Fl.
She was born in Madison, Alabama to the late Dave Rice, Jr. and Willie Lee Walton Rice.
She was educated in the Chattanooga Public Schools and received her BS degree from Alabama A & M University. She retired from the Hamilton County School System, where she taught at Alpine Elementary and Red Bank Middle Schools.
Reverend McField was the founder and pastor of St. Jude (CPCA) and a faithful member of the Hiwassee Presbyterian. She served as the moderator of the Hiwassee Presbyterian and worked in all phases of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America. She was a member of Clergy Koinonia of Greater Chattanooga and a member of Gamma Iota Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
She is survived by her sisters, Berta Scruggs, Mary Caudle of Chattanooga; Emma Fletcher of Tirana, Al., and Fannie Jones of Clermont, Florida; one brother, William (Eva Kate) Rice of Chattanooga; a grandson, Timothy McField; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 13, at Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Caudle officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery.
The body will lie in state after noon on Friday, Dec. 12, and the family will receive friends from 7–8 p.m. The Zeta Phi Beta Ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
