Samuel D. “Sam” Settles, 88, of Soddy Daisy, died on Thursday, December 25, 2014.

He was the owner/operator of Settles Trucking Company. Sam live life to the fullest and was an avid dirt track racer. He was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II. 

He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Shelby, Sammie Wicker and Chantay McFarlin; his sisters, Donna Smith and Betty Welch; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Daniel Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday.
