Greenway Monument Face Plate Stolen In Cleveland

  • Tuesday, April 1, 2014

Toby Pendergrass, chief of staff at Jones Management Services, reported to Cleveland Police Officer Edwin Millan that the monument face plate marking the Greenway at Willow Street was stolen.

The monument was paid for and donated to the city of Cleveland by area businessman Alan Jones. The faceplate was constructed of copper and is valued at over $700.

Thefts such as these are becoming more common because of copper metal’s high scrap value, police said.

The unknown suspect(s) are facing felony theft and vandalism charges if apprehended, it was stated.

If anyone has any information concerning the theft of this landmark, contact Detective Matt Jenkins at the Cleveland Police Department at 423 303-3134.
