Chattanooga native and Chattanooga Christian School alum Robbie Wilson has been named head baseball coach at Greater Atlanta Christian School.

Wilson, 36, has been the assistant baseball coach at Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C., for the past 10 years (2005-2014). He helped the Patriots to eight 30-win seasons, six NCAA Tournament invitations, and a spot in the final Top 30 poll following 8 of the past 10 seasons. His primary responsibilities included the areas of hitting and fielding, as well as recruiting.

Wilson served as head coach of the Outer Banks Daredevils of the Coastal Plain League in the summers of 2007 and 2008.
He was the head coach of the Alleghany Country Nitros of the New York Collegiate Baseball League in the summers of 2005 and 2006.

Prior to joining the FMU staff, Coach Wilson spent the 2004 season as an assistant baseball coach at Gardner-Webb University.

Wilson earned a master's degree at East Tennessee State University in 2002 where he served as a graduate assistant in baseball. Prior to that, he was a graduate assistant at King College for 3 years.

Wilson is a 1999 graduate of King College in Bristol, Tenn. where he was a four-year letterman in baseball. A center fielder, he was named the team's MVP in 1999. While a student at King, he visited South Africa in 1998 as a member of Athletes in Action.

Wilson and his wife Kristen have a 3-year-old daughter (Hallie) and a 2-year-old son (Banks).

Coach Wilson: "My family and I are incredibly excited to join the family at Greater Atlanta Christian. I would especially like to thank President David Fincher and Principal Scott Harsh for their graciousness throughout this process. It became clear to me very quickly that the people at GAC are truly dedicated to serving Jesus Christ in every aspect and I couldn't be more elated to be a part of that as head baseball coach. Spartan baseball is going to be built on toughness, discipline, and togetherness. I can't wait to get to work in preparation for next season."

Athletic Director Tim Vick: "Robbie Wilson has acquired a wealth of experience in the college ranks, excelling as someone who has the ability to develop the skills of young players. I found him to be a very humble man and yet with deep insight into the game of baseball. His quiet passion for the game could not go unnoticed. I think he will be a wonderful addition to the GAC coaching staff and will be a blessing to our baseball program."

Senior High Principal Scott Harsh: "I'm so excited that Robbie Wilson has accepted our offer to lead the Spartan baseball program. His preparation andd experience in baseball paired with his deep faith in Christ make Robbie a perfect fit for GAC. Coach Wilson has the right mix of passion and humility we look for in our coaches. He will be a great addition to our coaching staff and teaching faculty. Coach Wilson is inheriting a very strong program and is ready to lead the team into the future."
