Jamie "Jim" Franklin Conerly, Jr., 77, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, died on Tuesday July 29, 2014.

He was born on May 24, 1937 in Selma, Al., and attended Fletcher Academy, Pisgah Academy, and Chilton County High School, where he met Janis Teel, his future wife of 55 years, marring in 1959.

Jim was a union painter and taught at a community college for a short period of time.  He owned and operated a Yamaha motorcycle dealership and was a respected drywall contractor, builder, and electrician.  Jim's slogan was "Quality since 1955".  He often worked with his sons, and their combined experience reached Jim's goal of 100 years of construction experience.

Jim and his family joined the Seventh Day Adventist church in 1980 and moved to Collegedale.  Jim loved cars, motorcycles, and good fun. Deals Gap, Cherohala Skyway, Ga. Route 60, and Highway 129 from Turner's Corner are just a few of his favorite winding back roads through Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina.

Jim is survived by his wife Janis; three sons and their wives, Chip and Donna Conerly, Dale and Lynn Conerly, Matt and Tina Conerly; five grandchildren, Cullen Conerly, Harrison Conerly, Hannah Conerly, Haylee Conerly, and Grace Conerly; brother, Jerre Conerly; two sisters, Carole McDonald and Jan Conerly; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, in the funeral home chapel with Elder Jim Herman officiating. Interment will follow in Collegedale Cemetery.
