Hicks, Artie Mae "Tience" (Athens)

Artie Mae “Tience” Hicks, 75, of Athens, TN and formally of Cleveland, TN, died on Saturday morning, August 16, 2014 at her home. 

Tience was born in Athens on June 20, 1939 to the late Joe Van and Mable Hicks. She loved fishing but above all loved her family and spending time with them. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Kenneth Hicks, Jerry Hicks, Claude Hicks, Harry Butch Hicks and Roger Hicks; and five sisters, Divida Hicks, Joyce Jones, Carrie King, June Miller and Linda Lunsford. 

Tience is survived by one son, James Ricky Hicks; step-daughter, Cynthia Palmer; one brother, Larry Hicks; several special nieces and nephews; special friends, Bobby & Nina McNabb; numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

A graveside service is planned for Saturday, August 23 at 1 p.m. in the Slacks Chapel Cemetery located in Athens, TN with the Reverend Bill Hicks officiating.

Companion Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
