Rollins, Mack Arthur (Dalton)

Mack Arthur Rollins, 99, of Dalton, GA, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Morningside Assisted Living Facility.

He was born on December 23, 1914, in Whitfield County, GA to the late Arthur Earl and Ruth Vining Rollins of the Dawnville community. He was a career postal service employee, serving for many years in the Dalton Post Office and retired as Assistant Postmaster in 1976. He was educated in the Whitfield County Schools and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Dalton First United Methodist Church and served the church as member of the Official Board, Sunday School teacher and as member of the Chancel Choir. He was an master wood worker and an expert gardener.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Dennis Brendan Rollins. 

Mack is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Perdita Padgett Rollins of Dalton; sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Carole Rollins and Roger and Peggy Rollins all of Dalton; granddaughters, and spouses, Dr. Cristin Rollins and Jason Korn of Athens, GA and Elizabeth “Betsy” and David Snyder of Dalton; grandsons and spouses, Wyatt and Amanda Rollins of Subligna, and Andy and Veronica Rollins of Dalton; five great-grandchildren, Knox Arthur and Annabelle Rollins of Subligna and Drew Snyder, Gracy Snyder and Charlie Rollins of Dalton.

Services will be Monday, September 22, at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Dalton First United Methodist Church with Dr. Robin Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in the Dawn Rest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the atrium of the church on Monday, September 22 from noon until shortly before the funeral service.

The family requests that flowers please be omitted and memorials be made to the Dalton First United Methodist Church, 500 S. Thornton Ave, Dalton, Ga. 30720 or to Docup, c/o Rock Bridge Community Church, 100 W. Gordon St, Dalton, Ga. 30720.
