Pauline Webb
Pauline “Polly” Elizabeth Webb, of Signal Mountain, died on Monday, September 22, 2014. She was 88.
“Polly” was born in Thomaston, Ga., to the late Otis and Louise Anthony. She was a 1943 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Thomaston. Polly was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga and Signal Mountain area where she worked and retired from her family business Webbco Graphics. She was an active member for over 56 years at Signal Mountain Baptist Church and also taught the preschool class. Polly loved to travel and camp and was a member of the Cherokee Camping Club. She also enjoyed cooking and her flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Anthony.
Polly is survived by her husband of 70 years, Leon Webb; three daughters, Shelia (Gary) Burgess, Terry (Bobby) Brown and Paula (Sam) Yokley; six grandchildren, Tony (Laura) Burgess and Shannon Burgess, Jason (Haley) Brown and Angie (J.D.) Freye, Christy (Jeremiah) Tibbs and Matt Yokley; three great grandchildren, Ben Freye, Madysson and Aubry Tibbs; two sisters, Dot Hayes and Hazel Trice; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, at Signal Mountain Baptist Church.
A celebration of Polly’s life will follow at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday at the church with Dr. Steven Wright and Reverend Sally Ensley officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Signal Mountain Baptist Church, 939 Ridgeway Ave., Signal Mountain, Tn 37377, Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37416, or Alzheimer’s Association, 7625 Hamilton Park Drive, Suite 8, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
