Lisa Haynes Fired At Chattanooga State; Administrator Who Took Part In Her Hiring Quits

  • Monday, January 12, 2015

The new interim president of Chattanooga State Community College has fired Lisa Haynes, who was at the center of controversy that eventually led to the departure of longtime Chattanooga State president Jim Catanzaro.

Warren Nichols delivered a termination letter to Ms. Haynes, who was hired as chief innovations officer at $108,000 per year after Dr. Catanzaro met her in Barbados.

Interim Vice President Nichols has informed officials concerning her visa application that the college would pay "reasonable costs" for her to return to her home country.

Human Resource Director Tom Crum, who was involved in the hiring of Ms. Haynes, submitted his resignation after returning from the holidays.
