Child And Father Rescued From House Fire In East Brainerd

A fire caused significant damage to a home in Oak Shadows subdivision in East Brainerd area late Friday afternoon.

A 911 call was made at 5:55 p.m., reporting a house fire at 9003 Potomac Drive. The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived, reporting heavy smoke and fire on the second story of the house. Firefighters were notified that a child was still in the house. Firefighters worked quickly to evacuate the father and the child out of the house.

No injuries were reported, but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene to evaluate the child and the father. No one was transported to the hospital.

Fire officials reported the fire accidental and started in the second-story bedroom.

Damages were reported to be $150,000.
