Former Ringgold Mayor Worked At Wheland Foundry For 39 Years

George Louis Rhinehart, 85, of Ringgold, Georgia died on Thursday, January 22, 2015.

A lifelong resident of the Catoosa County area, he was a former employee of Wheland Foundry where he worked for over 39 years, was a member of the American Foundrymen Society, and a member of the Ringgold First Baptist Church.

George was very involved with his community. He was a former councilman and former mayor of Ringgold and also helped to put up the flags in Ringgold.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Gifford and Emma Lee Self Rhinehart; three sisters, Robbie Schmitt, Edna Keeton and Helen Jacocks; and five brothers, Scott, Clarence, Kenneth, Harold and Taylor Rhinehart.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley Ann Kittle Rhinehart and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Don Self officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ringgold City Hall for the Veteran’s Flag Fund at 150 Tennessee Street, Ringgold, Ga. 30736.

Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel, Ringgold.
