UTC's Ribeiro Named Special Teams Player Of The Week

  • Monday, October 12, 2015
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga junior Henrique Ribeiro is the Southern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced today.  This is the second honor this season for Ribeiro, who is on the Fred Mitchell Award Watch List as one of the top kickers in the nation.

Ribeiro turned in a solid all-around performance in the kicking game in UTC's 31-3 win over Furman.  Both of his punts were over 50 yards and both were downed inside the Paladin 20.
He averaged 55 yards per kick, upping his SoCon-leading average to 44.9 yards per punt.

A preseason first team All-SoCon pick, Ribeiro connected on his only field-goal attempt of the day from 36 yards out.  He also converted four PAT attempts, extending his school-record streak to 62 in a row.  That is also the seventh-longest streak in league history. Ribeiro kicked off six times, averaging 64.3 yards per kick, and recorded two touchbacks.

UTC improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in SoCon play.  The Mocs look to extend their nine-game winning streak in SoCon action at VMI this weekend.  Saturday's game time is set for 1:30 p.m. on ESPN3.  A link to the broadcast is available on the football schedule page on GoMocs.com.

Tickets are also on sale now for the Oct. 31 Homecoming game against Western Carolina on GoMocs.com or by calling the UTC Ticket Office at (423) 266-MOCS (6627).
