County government is entering into a new 30-year agreement with the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum for rail service on county-owned tracks at the Enterprise South Industrial Park.
The tracks were long idle at the former Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant at Tyner, but they have become very active with the construction of major new plants, including Volkswagen.
The TVRM is paid by the commercial firms for moving rail cars at the industrial park.
Under the agreement, the TVRM will maintain the track at the site.
The county will be getting a better financial deal - $140,000 per year or four percent of the TVRM gross - whichever is greater.
Al Kiser, finance director, said the county has been receiving from $76,000 to $126,000 per year.
